It handles viewing surfaces quite nicely, and more efficiently and "usably" than what I've seen in C3D. TBC is actually pretty good for quite a bit of what you've listed. It sounds like C3D may be a bit overkill if you're mostly just doing volumes/reporting. Trimble Business Center - $5,000 (additional $900 every two years or so for updates. Visually represent cut/fill by elevation and color. Compare surfaces and create volume report. Edit TIN surfaces (swap triangles, delete by boundary, add triangles, create points from surface, merge surfaces Create boundaries and delete data by boundary Insert background images, aligns background images manually or set scale

I prepare the volumes in a. I am working in earthworks and most of what I provide to the company is cut/fill volume reports and stockpile volume reports. We have Trimble and Topcon machine control and being able to support Trimble file formats is important to me. I have been looking for an alternative to Magnet Office and I am heavily leaning towards Trimble Business Center. I am working for a construction company and we have been having regular problems with Magnet Office (Topcon) crashing resulting in delays. How old were your keys? Did your company pay for annual maintenance?Hello Everyone. My key from 2017 broke and the rep responded with "Note that a regular renewal of annual maintenance for a TBC Intermediate license – which hasn't lapsed by 90 days or more – would only cost $804.75, versus the $1,841.50 quoted for this reinstatement". offer a fair price for the whole office and then let people have a code for all computers. seems like there should be an easier way, or for trimble to stop being penny pinchers. we have also had lots of trouble and wasted time with our network license. so maybe a small usb extension is an option there to reduce the wear on the dongle itself.Īll in all, i find all this frustrating and wish there was a simpler way. the second was just from pulling it in and out of the office computers. The first we broke from it getting squashed while closing computer case. to me it is outrageous, they just try to get some money out of you when ever they can. they tried to charge us an arm and a leg until my boss lost it on them and then we got charged 5$ for the dongle costs. We have broken two keys, and for us it was very frustrating trying to get replacements. I'm not saying to intentionally break it or anything but if it happens and they send you a replacement it would probably be the newer, smaller version. It was covered under warranty and the replacement they sent was the kind in the second picture. I lost my key around a year ago, I had the larger one. Just became more of a pain so I just dealt with the dongle sticking out. So I tried find a small hub to leave in my backpack and run a wire when I was out in the field. I also had that feeling of breaking the dongle. We switched one of our network license to a hardware license and was charged to do the switch. Has any of you guys had a similar experience? Let me show you my current dongle and the smaller dongle I wish to upgrade to. I was also advised the only way to replace the dongle would be to buy all the modules from scratch to the new dongle. However my dealer advised me that the software is tied to that dongle and cannot be decoupled to be transferred to a different dongle. I looked to replace the USB dongle with smaller one so that I don't need to take it in and out every time. I became a little worried that I might either lose or snap my dongle taking it in and out of the bag. I use a USB dongle for TBC and recently I have been travelling to remote sites often which I use laptop on site.
You would also either to have a current protection plan for your TBC license. There would be some cost involved with this however it would be as much as repurchasing all the modules. There is no real option to switch from one dongle type to another, however you could upgrade from a USB license to a Network (software) license. Please bear in mind that the smaller dongles can still break and are probably easier to lose.
